Our Story

From a Personal Loss to a Global Mission

It started with a tragedy. In 2009, Raghvendra Kumar witnessed a devastating road accident that claimed the life of a young motorcyclist — a death that could have been prevented by a single helmet. That moment changed everything.

Determined to act, Raghvendra began purchasing helmets with his own savings and distributing them to riders at traffic signals and accident-prone stretches. What started as a one-man mission quickly caught the attention of local communities, press, and NGO leaders across India.

By 2012, the movement had grown into the Helmetman Global Welfare Foundation Trust — a registered NGO with a structured approach to road safety education, implementation, and post-accident support.

Today, the Foundation operates in 18+ countries, has distributed over 50,000 helmets, and has touched more than 1 million lives through awareness campaigns, school programs, and government partnerships. The Helmetman of India is now a global symbol of road safety advocacy.

A One-Man Army That Became a Nation's Conscience

Raghvendra Kumar's journey began not in a boardroom, but at a crossroads — literally. He watched helplessly as a young man died meters away from him in a road accident. No helmet, no protection. Just fate and circumstance.

He walked away that day with a resolve: if the system won't act fast enough, he would. Armed with determination and his personal savings, he began personally handing helmets to riders — at traffic lights, petrol stations, highways, and local markets.

His efforts have earned him national recognition, media coverage across 30+ outlets, and invitations to address road safety conferences internationally. He was honoured by state governments and received commendations from road safety tribunals.
